  • Student Services & Advising Professionals and Research & Public Service Professionals have been bargaining jointly since October for a fair contract that includes:

    • Guaranteeing wage growth so that staff can afford to live in the communities they serve
    • Ensuring career progression aligns with increased responsibility and workload
    • Retaining talented staff by prioritizing excellence over inflexible in-office requirements
    • Strengthening job security

Instead of bargaining in good faith, management has committed numerous unfair labor practices (ULPs), including stonewalling our requests for information essential to negotiations and refusing to meet its legal burden to negotiate with us over policy changes with substantial impacts on staff in our units. All of which impact our ability to get a full and fair contract.

Progress at the bargaining table so far has only been possible because SSAPs and RPSPs have fought back and increased pressure on UC administrators, but it hasn’t been enough to force management to stop breaking the law.
