We are California state workers united across bargaining units, unions, agencies, boards, and departments.
We stand united in opposition to the Governor’s costly and inefficient mandate forcing the state workforce to return to office 4 days a week. We have been using telework effectively for the past 6 years and during that time California’s civil service workforce helped build California as the fourth largest economy in the world.
The California State Auditor’s Telework Report confirms what we’ve known all along: telework works for California! Telework lowers costs, improves recruitment and retention, reduces environmental impacts, and stimulates employee productivity.
The Governor's mandate would cost taxpayers as much as $225 million per year and have counter-intuitive drawbacks, such as undermining recruitment, worsening retention rates, increasing traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions, and disrupting the work-life stability that allows state employees to serve the public effectively.
We demand that:
Collectively, we are standing up for a California that works for workers, and for the public we serve.
