  • COUNT ME IN THE MAJORITY!

  • UAW is the Union of Student Workers at the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco. Together, we collectively bargain for better working conditions and build power to win a fairer and more democratic workplace at UC Law SF.

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • I accept membership in the UAW and its designated Local that represents me with respect to my working conditions at UC Law SF. I agree to pay a one-time $10 initiation fee and monthly dues, currently 1.44% of my gross pay. I authorize UC Law SF to deduct the initiation fee and monthly membership dues from my pay and remit them to the Union. Unless revoked, this authorization is to remain in effect for all periods of time in which I am a UAW member and receiving a paycheck for work performed in a UAW-represented unit.

  • UAW Voluntary Community Action Program (V-CAP)

Through UAW, workers in California and beyond have successfully advocated for transformative policy reforms and supported candidates with progressive, pro-labor platforms. These victories include:

    • Increasing state and federal funding for education and research
    • Passing the California DREAM Act, which protects young immigrants from deportation
    • Making housing more affordable by passing Measure ULA to raise ~$900 million a year for public social housing
    • Expanding the right to unionize by passing SB 201, which gave 17,000 UC Student Researchers the ability to form a union in 2021
    • Making UC accountable to state wage theft laws when they pay us late or incorrectly
    • Expanding protections for international and immigrant workers by extending Optional Practical training (OPT) and winning greater rights for H1B visa holders

Make Your Voice Heard: Sign up for V-CAP!

V-CAP – Voluntary Community Action Program – is our union's member-supported political fund. Thousands of UAW members make monthly V-CAP contributions to support pro-labor initiatives and candidates, and to build political leverage in Sacramento and Washington. Sign up for V-CAP right here!

In order to contribute to V-CAP, you must be eligible to vote in the US or be a US Permanent Resident.

  • I am a US eligible voter or US Permanent Resident and I hereby join UAW members across the country to have a stronger voice in my community by contributing to the UAW Voluntary Community Action Program (V-CAP). I assign to UAW V-CAP the following sum or percentage of my gross pay each and every month, and voluntarily authorize UC Law SF each month to deduct this amount from my wages and remit it to UAW V-CAP. I understand that signing this authorization and contributing to UAW V-CAP are not conditions of employment or UAW membership, that contributions are not tax-deductible, and that my status, rights, and benefits in UAW will not be affected by whether or how much I contribute. I also understand that UAW V-CAP will use the money received to make political contributions in connection with local, state, and federal elections as decided on democratically by UAW members.
