Join thousands of UC workers calling on Gov. Newsom to support California Science
  • On May 4th at 12pm, thousands of California scientists will rally in Sacramento to demand that Governor Gavin Newsom place the California Health & Science Research Bond on the 2026 ballot.

The California Health & Science Research Bond Act (SB 895) is a bill that would place a bond on the 2026 ballot to fund life-saving research at California institutions that is at risk of being cut by the Trump Administration. Scientists are fighting back and demanding that Californians, not the federal government, priotize what research is funded.

SB 895 is supported by a broad and growing coalition including the United Auto Workers (UAW), the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD), the University of California, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research, and the ALS Society. You can learn more at SaveScienceSaveLives.com

Fill out this form to add your name to the list of public supporters and RSVP to the May 4th rally!

  • Make Your Voice Heard: Sign up for V-CAP!

  • The Voluntary Community Action Program (V-CAP) is how UAW members pool our resources to advance our priorities in Federal, State, and Local policy.

I am a US eligible voter or US Permanent Resident and I hereby join UAW members across the country to have a stronger voice in my community by contributing to the UAW Voluntary Community Action Program (V-CAP). I assign to UAW V-CAP the following sum or percentage of my gross pay each and every month, and voluntarily authorize UC each month to deduct this amount from my wages and remit it to UAW V- CAP. I understand that signing this authorization and contributing to UAW V-CAP are not conditions of employment or UAW membership, that contributions are not tax-deductible, and that my status, rights, and benefits in UAW will not be affected by whether or how much I contribute. I also understand that UAW V-CAP will use the money received to make political contributions in connection with local, state, and federal elections as decided on democratically by UAW members.

  • Union Membership

  • Strong union membership is the only thing that gives UC workers the collective power to enforce and expand our rights. To add your name to the petition, sign below to re-affirm your union membership or join the majority of your colleagues as a union member.

I accept membership in the UAW and its designated Local that represents me with respect to my working conditions at UC. I agree to pay a one-time $10 initiation fee and monthly dues, currently 1.44% of my gross pay. I authorize UC to deduct the initiation fee and monthly membership dues from my pay and remit them to the Union. Unless revoked, this authorization is to remain in effect for all periods of time in which I am a UAW member and receiving a paycheck for work performed in a UAW-represented unit.
